Call to Action: A unique time-sensitive Opportunity
(December 16, 2007 to January 31st, 2008 3pm EST)

Dear Friends and Supporters of Friends of Bolivia, Inc,

"Parade magazine and the Case Foundation are partnering with Network for Good and Six Degrees to launch America’s Giving Challenge; an initiative to inspire and reward greater giving through online technology. To learn more, visit Parade.com."-- from the "About" tab of the Charity badge.

The Giving Challenge may benefit only non-profit 501c(3) organizations. The goal is to use online and digital media technologies to reach as many donors as possible through the charity badge on http://www.friendsofbolivia.com home page. A minimum of US $10 donation by credit card or PayPal will count you as a donor, and the greater the number of donors signing up through this badge, the better. The  8  (4 for U.S. and 4 for Global) charities with the largest number of sign-ups will each get a challenge award of $50,000 !!

The campaign began on December 16, 2007 and goes through January 31, 2008 3pm EST (12 noon Pacific Time). Donations and support are most welcome at any time, but if made within this period, it will have the biggest impact at the shot of winning one of these $50,000 awards.

How can you help this effort? By engaging in one or more of the following 3 ways.

1) Make a personal donation.

Click on the orange "Donate" button on the charity badge or go to Network for Good where you can make a donation to Friends of Bolivia, Inc.  You may provide as much or as little personal information, or remain anonymous if you wish, but the moment you make a donation, the total donation and number of donors will reflect in the charity badge the next time you refresh it. Donating multiple times for the same name will count as only one donation when they tally up the final numbers.  Remember that your donation is generally Tax deductible on US Federal and State Income Tax if you itemize deductions on Schedule A. If you want to go to the donation site immediately you can click on this url, which will display the badge: .http://www.networkforgood.org/pca/Badge.aspx?badgeId=108371

Network for Good has also helped us to accept donations in the past and will do so in the future.  However, in order to take advantage of this unique opportunity to have your donation counted for this particular challenge, your donation MUST be through the charity badge.

2) Spread the message to those you know.

Use word of mouth, person-to-person interaction, telephone interaction, e-mail, instant messenger or other means.  Send the word to your friends, relatives, and other supporters of Friends of Bolivia, Inc.  You can forward a copy of this message or the relevant URL to members in your phone book and contact list. Please identify yourselves as the sender so that the recipient knows that it is from someone they know, rather than ignore it as spam email.  While it is possible to send the message to a large number of people, please be aware that putting too many people on the list could cause spam filters to mark your message as spam, and that a mass mailing to unknown people usually irritates and annoys recipients.

If you have a website, you can go to the "Share" tab on the badge and select the html text to include within your website, and you can also find the URL there to add to your email.

3) Publicize to the world at large.

Display the badge on your website or facebook page. The HTML code for displaying the badge is available from the "Share" tab of the badge. The HTML code for displaying the badge on facebook will be provided on request by webmaster@friendsofbolivia.com. The webmaster would appreciate the help, advice and support of any facebook members since he himself is not familiar with this tool.

Please act IMMEDIATELY.  Our combined actions for this challenge will have impact only up till Janury 31, 2008 3pm EST (or 12 noon PST).  In the event of a tie, the organization who reaches the total earlier will win in a tie-breaker.  Seconds may mean the difference between $50,000 and nothing. This is yet another reason to act NOW!

Thank you for your interest in helping the needy.  Friends of Bolivia will make sure that 100% of your donation is used for charitable purposes.  You can pick a specific project or organization for your donation from the list that is supported by Friends of Bolivia; otherwise, the Board will decide at the end of the year how the money is distributed to different organizations.  If you wish to donate to an organization that Friends of Bolivia does not currently support, please get in touch with Friends of Bolivia to see if the donation will qualify.

Donations may be made by checks or online by credit card.
