| The well attended Community Sale on April 12, 2003 at James
Lick High School in San Jose raised enough funds to provide
11 scholarships for Consipe. The funds came from sales of
generous donations of clothing and food by volunteers and
friends of FOB. Clothing included dresses, dance
outfits, jackets and suits. The food included fricase,
saltenas, sandwiches de chola, quinoa soup, quinoa quiche,
quinoa salad, sodas and bottled water. Although it was
raining heavily, there was a large turnout, and all the food
was sold out. Everyone who was involved with the event was
happy with the experience. Its success has encouraged other
groups to organize similar community sales in the future.
