Friends of Bolivia: Mission

Friends of Bolivia provides ongoing help to charitable institutions promoting programs to improve the health, educational and economic well being of the communities in which its members were born, live, and work.

To fulfill this mission the organization:

Organizes activities, events, and drives to raise funds.
Provides ongoing financial, in-kind and organizational support to identified groups and causes.
Shares resources and support networks with other organizations.
Gives encouragement and support.
Serves as an information and cultural resource about Bolivia.

Friends of Bolivia raises funds to assist medical centers serving the impoverished, charitable organizations distributing clothes to children living on the streets, and centers providing comfort and support to abused children to let them become contributing members of society. It also collects in-kind donations, and provides organizational support for other activities.

Since many of its members were born in Bolivia, and very aware of the great need of the Bolivian people, Friends of Bolivia is a vehicle through which individuals who want to create a better world and support their place of birth can express themselves by actions rather than by words.

Being a conscientious non-profit organization, Friends of Bolivia fulfills its civic citizenship responsibilities in its country of inception (U.S.A.) and to the world we live in by distribution some donations to the local geographic area, and others to other needy locations where we can help. In-kind donations such as food, clothing, school backpacks, and books received were distributed to the needy in the San Francisco Bay Area, and other parts of the world. Any grants received for specific purposes are used for projects that the donor or grant awarder has specified, so long as the purpose is consistent with the objectives of Friends of Bolivia.

Friends of Bolivia is run solely by volunteers. With no administrative overhead for salaries, and out of pocket costs donated by well-wishers, your full donation is used for charitable purposes. Friends of Bolivia appeals to your generosity and kind-heartedness to make a difference to those less fortunate than us. Please rest assured that unless you indicate that your tax deductible donation is for a particular purpose for a particular location, it will help the needy in Bolivia.
