| In line with Friends of Bolivia's policy of
providing compassionate aid to the poor and needy, we
collected books for donation to libraries in Afghanistan
which have been destroyed and devastated by the recent
turmoil. Donations included scientific journals, business
journals and magazines, and mathematics and science text
books.
Friends of Bolivia does not take a position or make
judgment on the religious beliefs and customs of other
people, and respects individuals regardless of their faith.
Friends of Bolivia required only compassion and
understanding, and in this case we are reaching out to
people who are suffering.
To avoid any controversy or appearance of impropriety,
Friends of Bolivia did not accept donations of religious
books.
Nineteen tons of books were collected and shipped in an
ocean container by the Asia Foundation for distribution in
Afghanistan. |
